Skill Overview

Refund & Cancellation Policy
The Fairfax County Park Authority will issue a credit(s) to your Parktakes household account for all previously scheduled summer camp programs. Once the credit is posted, you will receive a confirmation that your balance is available. FCPA customers with a household account balance have the following options:
- MAINTAIN YOUR ACCOUNT BALANCE to use for future FCPA registrations or purchases.
- DONATE to Fairfax County Park Foundation, to help parks with a charitable contribution that is tax-deductible as allowed by law.
- REFUND your registration balance to a credit card or check.
To request a refund or donate your balance, please fill out this simple electronic form and you will be contacted by Fairfax County staff.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many kids are in the camp?
We will have 20 to 30 kids in a camp however kids are divided by age group.
How do you group kids together at camp?
Campers will be grouped by age and / or skill level to allow them to learn and apply their new skills at a pace that suitable for them. For example: Group 1 (6 – 7 yrs.) Group 2 (8 – 9 yrs.) Group 3 (10 – 13 yrs.)
When can I drop off and pick up my child?
Campers should arrive 5-10 minutes before the scheduled camp start. Please pick up your student on time. Pickups after 5-minute grace period will result in late pickup fee of $15 every 15 minutes. Please inform us if you know you will be late picking up your student. Instruct your student to wait inside the building and you should escort them from the building to your car. During peak times the parking lot is crowded. Please take into consideration that our campers may include young children. Please drive slowly and carefully.
What is the procedure for signing in & out?
Our signing in & out will be contactless.
Signing in – Parents will not be allowed to enter the room. Our camp counselors will greet you and your child outside of the room or meeting area and check the camper. One of our counselors will take your child into the room
Signing out – We will meet parents outside of the room and your child will be escorted by our camp counselor.
How often do you clean & disinfect?
We will be cleaning & disinfecting on a regular basis. The schools will also have a detail clean.
Are there outdoor activities?
Our camps are primarily indoors, however we believe that campers should enjoy nature and be a kid. We will have a recess period of 30 minutes in the morning & afternoon. Some camps may do specific lessons outside at the Camps Director discretion.
How do we handle the summer heat?
- Campers will have regular access to water fountains or drinking water taps. We will encourage campers to drink regularly & fill up throughout the day
- SciGenie counselors will plan lower activity games/activities when the sun is the strongest and will take advantage of shaded areas throughout the day
- If sunscreen is packed with camper, counselor will allow time and provide reminders for application
- Campers will be outside for no more than 30 minutes during the peak heat of the day
What happens if the week of camp I want to sign up for is full?
If your week of camp is already full, you can join the waitlist online. There is no cost to join a waitlist, and no obligation to sign up once you’re on it. If you have questions about a particular waitlist or your odds of getting to the top of it, email us hello@scigenie.com.
What happens if I’m on a waitlist and a space opens?
If space opens up and you’re next on the list, we’ll send an email letting you know. You’ll have three business days to sign up for that week or class. If you don’t sign up, we’ll email the next family on the list to offer them the spot.
